At Uzzell Church one week ago,

here in my in my usual situation

I prepared to give announcements

but instead got appreciation!

At first it came as a big fat card -

It was from the congregation.

And tucked inside were two large bills,

a sign of appreciation

And then there came the flowers.

They're nice and fragrant still.

I love the smell of flowers,

and I guess I always will.

But thb honors weren't yet over.

They had really just begun.

I was treated then to poetry

that was lively and quite fun.

And after that the basket came -

was filled to overflowing!

With cards and gifts, and lots of love...

appreciation showing.

And when the final hymn was sung,

and folks filed out the door

I heard a famous slogan

"But wait! Hold on! There's more!"

There was a time of fellowship

With friends in joyful mood.

And you know (because we're Methodist)

there HAD to be some food!

I doubt there's a pastor anywhere

with ANY congregation

who got the treatment I did -

all this appreciation.

T'h e time has come to say, my friends, what's on my heart and mind.

l'm grateful and l'm humbled

because YOU were so kind.

I can't imagine anywhere

that l would rather be.

God made this good appointment

with Uzzell UMC.

My thank you isn't big enough.

It really seems quite small.

But ifs all I have to offer you

so I thank you one and all.

I thank you for your cards, your gifts,

and for whatever part

you had in Sunday's special time.

l truly touched my heart.

God bless you all.
